I’ve tested a few of the popular AI code editors (Cursor, Windsurf, Kiro) by trying to vibe-code simple apps, and I’ve realised that like its parent AI, vibe coding has a ton of hype surrounding it but has limited mileage in the real world.
Sure, you could vibe code a million-dollar solution, but could you guarantee that it won’t have huge technical debt (future costs of fixing major technical issues resulting from poor decisions and shortcuts taken to achieve short-term goals) and security holes the size of the sun (because you don’t know what vulnerabilities to look for in the code)?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying vibe coding is dead; rather, if a person doesn’t know traditional coding (gained through knowledge, skills, and experience from doing it the hard way) and all you do is vibe coding, you’re digging your own grave.
As for me, I’m going to continue coding the old school way and use AI sparingly so that neither my brain nor my solutions will rot.
If you have an app idea or a solution you’d like to build and would like to work with a responsible and wise person to vibe code it for you, let’s chat.
