I read an article recently and wanted to share a brief reflection on its key takeaway: organic demand.
Demand for a product or service has to be natural. Relying on flashy marketing or viral moments might yield short-term success, but it lacks the substance needed for lasting momentum.
On November 12, 2025, Menulog announced that it was done in Australia. They just couldn’t keep up with Uber; the demand just wasn’t there. Two years ago, Menulog released an ad with Christina Aguilera and Latto. While it was popular, it wasn’t enough to keep them in business because the demand just wasn’t there. Throwing a lot of money at advertising won’t magically make people want your product or service!
We are not in a boardroom world anymore where people can sit there and decide what people want. In the social media age, demand has become democratized. – Jack Davis, serial entrepreneur and investor
Organic demand can neither be bought nor manufactured. It exists, or it doesn’t. This is why it’s important to stay aware, observe the market, and look ahead. Jumping on a trend just because everyone else is will only waste your money and time, as happened with AI: many jumped in, but few delivered tangible value mirroring organic demand. I must admit I almost got sucked in, too.
The key is to build a product or service that people genuinely want, something that adds measurable, tangible value to their business or lives. Davis warns, and I agree, that throwing money at paid advertising (Google Ads, anyone?) won’t generate demand and cannot be the main source of growth.
This has been a busy year for me (and will be for another month), but despite that, I consistently spend time reflecting on where things are at (yes, even AI), where they’re heading, and how I can pivot and position myself to add measurable, tangible value to businesses without being overtaken by hype. It has proven very useful, and I not only look forward to investing more time in this exercise in 2026 but also to actioning the steps I’ve come up with to help Mustard Seed IT grow organically!
If this sounds good to you and it’s something you’d like to do for your own business, I invite you to connect with me on LinkedIn or use the contact form.
Remember: don’t create what you like or do what you want; focus on organic demand, what others genuinely want and are willing to pay for.
