Soul Searching in the Age of AI
AI is all the rage, and there are folks on both sides of the pendulum: those championing it without reservation, and those furiously sounding the alarm.
I have been on both sides of that pendulum. After investing time and effort into it, I have settled somewhere in the middle.
AI has no doubt made some things obsolete. At the same time, it has unlocked opportunities that were previously out of reach for many. Two sides of the same coin.
As a solopreneur, I feel like I am that coin: tossed in the air, and it has yet to land. On the one hand, AI has been terrifying. A handful of the skills I offer as a service are now available to anyone with an agent. Why hire me as a consultant when you can just ask AI?
But it has also been exciting. AI now lets me do things I previously had to hire for and could not afford. Things that used to require a team, like building a multi-tenant SaaS suite, can now be done if one has an AI subscription.
I have been wrestling with this for a while: how do I not just survive, but thrive in the age of AI, without selling out my Christian values and worldview?
Fighting AI will not get me far. Neither will putting all my eggs in the AI basket and expecting that to give me the golden goose.
The question is not, "Will AI replace me?" The question is, "What incredible things can I do wielding AI that others can't?"
For solopreneurs like me, the opportunity has always been the same: add tangible value to clients by operating in God's wisdom and godly integrity. AI is just a new variable in the mix.
I continue to pray for God's guidance, strength, and wisdom, so that I can land heads first, and not keep chasing the tail.
If you are a business owner wrestling with AI, keen to use it but unwilling to compromise, I would be glad to talk. That is the work I do with clients: help you use the tools to reach your goals without handing over your judgment or your integrity. Book a discovery call and we can take it from there.
